Will it sound like a robot to my customers?
No. It uses a natural conversational voice with your business name, your hours, and your trade vocabulary. Most callers don't realize it's AI — they just feel like the office picked up. And if a caller asks ‘am I talking to a person?’ it tells them the truth and offers to take a message for you.
What if the AI doesn't know the answer to something?
It doesn't make stuff up. If a caller asks something outside what you trained it on, it politely takes the message and flags it as needing a callback from you. No bad quotes, no promises you can't keep, no commitments to jobs you don't do.
What if I miss the SMS summary?
You won't. Every call generates a structured text with the caller's name, number, what they need, and how urgent it is. It sits in your inbox until you act on it. You can also forward summaries to a second phone, an email address, or a project manager.
Do I have to change my phone number?
No. Your existing business number stays yours. We give you a setting: forward to Codex Relay only when you don't pick up in 4 rings, or 24/7. Most owner-ops choose the first option during the day and 24/7 on nights and weekends.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Month-to-month, no contract. If it doesn't earn back the cost in caught calls in your first 30 days, refund. Built by an electrician — I can't afford to make people unhappy in a small contractor community.
How long does setup take?
About 20 minutes on an onboarding call. We collect your services list, hours, ballpark pricing (if you want it to quote ranges), and your forwarding number. Live the same day. Most contractors get their first booked call within 48 hours.
What trades does it work for?
Built first for the trades I know best — electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and general contracting. The intake script adapts to whatever services you load in during onboarding, so anything trades-adjacent (locksmiths, garage door, appliance repair) works fine too.
